As with my outdoor work, I like chance elements that I happen upon, and often this starts the idea for a painting.  I trust when something catches my eye because of some physical property such as how it reflects light, its color or its shape, for example. At times I also realize a deeper significance the objects represent and find I may gain insight into my subconscious thoughts from the process of making the work.
