With interior paintings I am interested in how spaces unfold through frames- often doorways and windows, and I enjoy glimpses of the outdoor world mingling with the interior spaces. I am also happy to take the unexpected opportunities to include figures (and pets) when I'm working on site and someone comes by to do something (like weeding in a garden, eating at a cafe, or just walking along the street).  In these instances I have to paint them quickly as I never know when they'll leave. While I infrequently paint with other artists, when this does occur I like to include them in my paintings too. At other times friends and family may end up in a painting if they try to read and happen to sit in a place where I've got a painting underway.
